Angie Cooke, Founder and Director

Founder and Director of Make Creative Studio, Angie serves the community of Richmond, Virginia with a passion for art and Jesus.  The studio came together in July of 2019 from Angie's experience teaching and directing locally in the non-profit world, as well as from years of loving on students from a diverse array of backgrounds and situations. If you would like more information about Make Creative Studio or would like to chat, give her a shout at angie@makestudiorva.com or call the church office at 804-282-9763 and ask for her. 

Elizabeth King, Art Therapist, ATR-BC, LPC

Elizabeth is a licensed professional counselor and board certified art therapist in practice since 2008. She has experience caring for people experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions, addiction issues, and medical treatment. Her diverse experience in mental health, wellness, and spiritual growth provides her the ability to effectively work with even the most intense and challenging situations.Elizabeth is skilled at using talk therapy, the art making process, and verbal and nonverbal communication to help people with their unique challenges. She enjoys gardening, thrift shopping, and cooking for her young children and foodie husband.

Mary Miller, Marketing Director

Mary Miller, a long-time volunteer at the studio, joined our team as the Associate Director of Marketing and Studio Assistant in February 2023. Mary brings with her years of experience in graphic design, marketing, and visual art. She has a special place in her heart for the ministry work of Make Creative Studio, especially our work in the recovery community of Richmond, and leads our Sober Sip & Paint Nights. In addition to working at the studio, Mary is a freelance graphic designer and visual artist. She believes creativity and the arts are a vital tool in God's work of bringing restoration and hope to the world, and is passionate about merging her creativity with her work in Richmond doing outreach to women trapped in sexual exploitation and trafficking.  You can view Mary's creative work online at fireflydesignstudio.co.

Brittany Burkett, Art Teacher

Brittany has been active at Make Creative Studio since its inception. She loves working with children and leading the creative process that lets children explore materials, bring a vision to life and experience the deep worth found in working with one’s hands. Her background in photography, modern dance and global development provides a fresh perspective on how to ignite creativity in diverse communities. When she is not teaching for MAKE or supporting other local ministries, she can be found experimenting in the kitchen, cheering at youth sporting events, reading books to her kids and dreaming of international adventures.  

Hannah Kehrer, Art Teacher

Hannah attended Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Painting & Printmaking. Some of her earliest memories are of artmaking, specifically watercolor painting and the joy that came with making something beautiful to share with others. It is the spirit of joy and freedom that comes in creating that she loves to share with her students, no matter their age. She has been a leader and educator in multiple settings serving families and children and is passionate about serving others. She brings enthusiasm, cheer and laughter to her role as Art Teacher and is very excited to join the Make Studio team. As a native of Hampton, VA she loves crabbing, fishing and time spent in salty water. She enjoys time spent out in nature marveling at the beauty of God's creation with her husband and son and loves a good adventure! ​

Kirsten Rose, Art Teacher

Oil painter, photographer and crafting mama, Kirsten feels most alive when being creative. She minored in Studio Art at UVA and lives with her husband, three boys and two dogs in Richmond’s Northside.
